The Rotary Club of Wexford was proud to endorse student Aoibhean Doyle, who won a place in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) programme.
She presented her amazing experience participating in the Euroscholar programme, which started with a meeting at the Hampton White Hilton Hotel in Belfast and was followed by visits to Belfast City Hall and Stormont.
She learned about Northern Irish politics and history, including the Belfast Blitz and Stormont’s unique architectural features. In Dublin, she attended the Europe Experience, a programme about the European Parliament. The highlight was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, where she debated disinformation.
Aiobhean also visited the European Court of Human Rights and La Petite France. She expressed gratitude to Rotary leaders, teachers, and parents for supporting their participation. Aoibhean came to our Rotary lunch with her father, Brendan Doyle and her teacher, Ms Howley.
Rotarian Maura Bell, the project lead for Youth Leadership, supported her. When she leaves education, Aoibhean plans to work in politics and the EuroScholar programme gave her a taste of what to expect.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organised by Rotary clubs and districts. It allows participants to develop their leadership skills while having fun and making connections.
