On December 3 the first Just 1 Life event of this school year took place at the National Opera House in Wexford. Hosted by The Rotary Club of Wexford in partnership with Wexford County Council, there will be five Just 1 Life events during the 2025/26 school year. Students from Bridgetown College, Loreto Wexford, Presentation Secondary School Wexford and Youth Train attended this event. In total there were approximately 300 students at this event.
Like in previous years, the goal of Just 1 Life is to get the message across to young people about the potentially devastating consequences that can occur from making poor decisions on our roads. This applies to drivers, passengers, motor cyclists, bicycle users, e-scooter users, pedestrians, amongst others.
Students heard presentations from An Garda Síochána, the National Ambulance Service, Wexford County Fire Service, Wexford Mental Health Association and the Health Service Executive. Presenters told their first hand experiences in dealing with death and injury on our roads, nearly always caused by poor decision making by road users, such as speeding, drink and drug driving and use of mobile phones. They also shared graphic images and powerful videos.
Just 1 Life is a road safety initiative of The Rotary Club of Wexford, in partnership with Wexford County Council. Launched in 2006 well over 20,000 students have attended Just 1 Life events over the years. The Rotary Club of Wexford would like to thank Wexford County Council for their continued partnership and would like to thank all the presenters at this event. Four more Just 1 Life events will take place during this school year with over 2,000 students attending.
