RONAN FURLONG R.I.P.

The death has occurred of Ronan Furlong of Ferrybank, Wexford.  Ronan was a Founder Member of Wexford Rotary and has been involved with our Club since 1979.  His background was banking and finance and he was Regional Manager, based in Wexford,  with Bank of Ireland for many years.  Wexford Rotary has expressed deep sadness at his passing and extends sympathy to his wife Colette and children Damian, Neville, Ronan and Leah.  Ronan was pre-decreased by his daughter Rhonda.

Ronan was Founder President of Wexford Rotary.  A past pupil of St Peter’s College and a proud Wexford man born in New Ross.   In his professional life Ronan  had a wealth of first class connections which he was delighted to use to best advantage insofar as his beloved Wexford was concerned.  He gave of his time and his skill very generously and supported  many projects and charities including our own Wexford General Hospital.  His motto was ‘charity begins at home’.

Ronan was an excellent choice to give our Club a really good start in Rotary.   He fulfilled his role with great comittement not only while he was President but throughout his life.

He will be remembered as a great man by everybody connected with Wexford Rotary.

May he rest in peace.
